TWO brothers will appear before magistrates today (Fri Dec 22) charged in connection with last week's brutal attack on a Bury HGV driver.
And the police praised the Bury Times for its help in highlighting David Jones' horrific injuries, suffered just a few hundred yards from his home last Wednesday (Dec 14).
Detective Sergeant Duncan Heywood of Bury's Operational Police Unit, said: "The coverage in the Bury Times resulted in our office receiving a multitude of calls from concerned members of the public.
"A number of people offered positive information about Mr Jones' alleged attackers."
Mr Jones is now recovering at home after a weekend receiving treatment to shocking facial injuries and a broken arm.
He was attacked in Brighton Street shortly after 10pm last Wednesday as he walked his Westie dog, Oliver.
Darren Spensley (25) and his brother Andrew (26) are both charged with assault.
