TRAVEL and tourism students at Bury College have been busy getting some practical experience of event promotion.
As part of their studies they looked at three local facilities, the Lancashire Fusiliers Museum, Bury Market and the Met Cafe Bar, and had to choose one to promote.
Having decided on The Met, the students planned their marketing strategy and then created designs for posters and flyers for DJ nights.
Met director Ged Kelly allocated a budget for printing costs, which the students were responsible for managing. They also raised awareness by distributing promotional material around the college and the town centre.
Project organiser Jan Barnes said: "The students have thoroughly enjoyed the task and it has provided them with valuable experience.
"It was hard to decide which of the three facilities to promote, but the task has proved so successful that we aim to work with both the market and the museum later in the year."
