TWO youths were arrested and a third is still missing after a high speed car chase through Bury's streets.

A mobile police dog handler began following a Ford Escort XR3i from Gigg Lane and chased the vehicle through a number of back streets on Wednesday night (Dec 20).

At one point the Ford rammed the police car, causing extensive damage to the front bonnet, before the target vehicle veered out of control and smashed into a bus stop in Alfred Street, Bury.

The vehicle burst into flames and two of the occupants were rescued by police.

Both youths were taken to Bury General Hospital for treatment. A 16-year-old has been bailed pending further investigations by police.

The third man is still being sought by police and anyone with any information about the crash should contact Bury police on 872 5050.

One man will appear in court today (Fri Dec 22) to face a charge of driving with excess alcohol after a BMW car crashed through a garden fence in Haig Road, Bury, on Wednesday night.
