PUB bosses hope to bring festive cheer to drinkers who got unwanted gifts for Christmas by hosting a special present swap shop.

On December 27 people will get the chance to swap their surplus socks for something they really want.

John and Sally Hillary (pictured), managers of the newly opened Slaughtered Lamb pub, in Burnley, will be opening their doors to the public in an attempt to bring a bit more festive cheer to disappointed families.

The couple, who only arrived in the pub four weeks ago after it underwent a £200,000 facelift, decided to hold the alternative shopping experience after years of receiving unwanted presents -- in the hope that other children and adults will be able to pick up the treat that Santa did not bring in his sleigh.

John said: "It happens to me every single year without fail so I would imagine that I'm not the only one.

"We'll offer everybody a chance to get something more akin to what they want and hopefully we'll have a good turn out on the night."

John and Sally, from Skipton, arrived at the Manchester Road pub which used to be the Bull and Butcher, after managing the Brown Cow, in Blackburn, and the Gamecock, in Great Harwood.

Guests are invited to the Manchester Road pub for a 7.30pm start.
