LEE Briscoe is again ruled out through injury as Clarets boss Stan Ternent calls on his team to get back to basis to rediscover the winning feeling against high-flying Bolton at Turf Moor tomorrow.

Ternent has been disappointed with the way Burnley's normally watertight defence has shipped goals in back-to-back derby defeats.

And rediscovering the mean streak that has yielded nine clean sheets this term is seen as the key to ending Bolton's run of five wins in six games which has lifted them to second place in the table.

Ternent said: "We go back to Preston and I said to the players the goals were poor ones to give away. Against Blackburn the first goal was from a long throw-in which was a poor one to give away and the second one they hit us on the break which might not necessarily have happened if the scores were level.

"So we have to buck up a bit on our concentration levels and get back to base camp because, basically, what we're doing is shooting ourselves in the foot.

"We work on it all the time and it's just been a lapse in concentration really against two decent teams."

Burnley aren't helped by the continuing absence of left-back Briscoe, who is yet to recover fully from his gashed knee.

But despite losing two games on the trot for the first time this season, Ternent isn't panicking with his side still in touch with the top six and exactly half way to the points tally Bolton achieved last season to finish in the play-off zone.

He added: "I didn't expect to go up and not have a run where we had to dig deep and that's come on us now against Preston who are a good side, Blackburn who are a good side and Bolton who are obviously a good side.

"But at our best we are capable of beating any of those teams. We have had two set-backs and we hope to put it right against Bolton tomorrow.

"Three points would probably put us in the top half-dozen so there's everything to play for.

"I suppose if we got another 38 points out of the next half of the season we would be very close to being in the play-offs I would have thought.

"Our ambition has always been to maintain a First Division status. I think the players have done particularly well and I think we will maintain a First Division status, although we have towinanother four or five matches." Glen Little is set to return to the Clarets squad after missing the last three games and could start on the bench.

Burnley from: Michopoulos, Weller, Briscoe, Cox, Davis, Thomas, Ball, Mellon, Cook, Payton, Moore, Jepson, Mullin, Johnrose, Maylett, Little, West, Armstrong, Crichton.

Bolton from: Jaaskelainen, O'Kane, Bergsson, Warhurst, Elliott, Gardner, Farrelly, Nolan, Marshall, Hendry, Fredgaard, Holdsworth, Ricketts, Hansen, Barness, Charlton, Richardson, Passi, Banks.

Stan Ternent still wants to sign Birmingham City striker Dele Adebola but is being frustrated by City's stance on the in-form player. "He's the only player I know who's available for transfer but not transferable. I would like to bring Dele Adebola to the club. At the moment they say he isn't for sale, so we'll see.

"I have one or two other irons in the fire but I suppose at this period of time managers are a little reluctant to sell players because of the number of games," said Ternent.

And his quest may not be helped by the return of Mark Burchill to Celtic at the end of his three-month loan spell at Birmingham. after the player failed to agree personal terms for the £1.5 million move to go ahead. WANTED: Dele Adebola
