THIS is the time when we all consume more food than usual. If readers care about high standards of farm animal welfare and the environment, there are important labels to look out for.
Organic labelled products are produced naturally with environmental sustainability in mind. The RSPCA's Freedom Food labels give the assurance that the products come from animals reared to stringent welfare standards on farms, in transport and at the abattoir.
If you can't find them, please ask! The more people demand such products, the more supermarkets will stock them and the more our farmers will be rewarded for good environmental and welfare practices.
