I AM writing to congratulate the residents association of Fernhill for their enthusiasm and hard work in creating a conservation area and garden on Cateaton Street, Bury.
It was their idea to apply for the funding and their efforts during the recent terrible weather which has resulted in a wasteland becoming an environment to be proud of.
I would also like to thank council officer Martin Hathaway for giving his free time to advise and assist the volunteers. I understand that Martin has offered to supervise the erection of a fence donated by St Mark's School to keep the area safe and free from dogs. Thanks also go to St Mark's School.
I congratulate all those involved and hope the community will enjoy this amenity and help keep it in good condition.
