You cards!

CHEEKY Rovers fans have been inundating Burnley boss Stan Ternent with Christmas cards following their win in last week's East Lancashire derby.

The Clarets' postbag has bulged with cards for Ternent since the 2-0 victory, thanking the Turf Moor chief for his side's festive generosity.

Ternent said: "I've had a lot of Christmas cards from Blackburn fans thanking me for allowing them to win, which is very nice.

"So it's not just the supporters that have to put up with it. We all have to take it on the chin!"

WHOEVER said footballers were useless and couldn't do anything for themselves should have been down at Rovers' training ground this week!

Cheeky Scot Christian Dailly was spotted begging one of the Brockhall receptionists to wrap his wife's Christmas presents for him because he claimed he was all fingers and thumbs.

Dailly's wife can think herself lucky, however.

A certain other Rovers player, who shall remain nameless, couldn't wrap his wife's presents himself either.

He was rather less subtle, though -- he got his wife to wrap them herself!!

Seat of power ROVERS boss Graeme Souness isn't normally one to duck out of speaking to the Press.

But the Ewood chief came out with a novel excuse this week as I tried to track him down following his scouting expedition to France.

Just after landing at Gatwick, I managed to catch Souey on his mobile as he was boarding a train for the Capital.

But 30 seconds into the conversation he suddenly broke off to have a muffled conversation with the guard.

"You'll have to phone me back in five minutes, Andy, I've just got on this train without a ticket," said Souey!

I wouldn't fancy inviting Souey to leave his seat, would you?

NEW boy Alan Mahon spoke of his delight this week after a move to Rovers offered him the chance of regular first team football.

But there was one downside for the former Tranmere star as his loan move from Sporting Lisbon cost him his chance to enjoy Christmas!

"I would have been on my Christmas break now if I'd stayed at Sporting," quipped Mahon. "The lads in Portugal get from the 22nd to the 27th off, so the likes of Phil Babb have already come home."

A starting place against Birmingham on Boxing Day, however, would more than make up for it.
