PENDLE band Tidy are set to return to the studio the first week in the new year to record three new tracks.

After a year that, by their own high standards, has seen them fail to capitalise on their talents, the five-piece are set to return with a more determined approach.

Since their light-hearted Santana-influenced debut album Crazy Farmers, the group's sound has moved on.

For the new material they have decided to relocate to Manchester, where they will join John Pennington who worked with the pianist Barney Williams when he was in the Milltown Brothers.

Lead singer Bruce Thomas said: "Some of the new stuff has more of a Stone Roses, Charlatans, Madchester Revival feel about it, which is what we're about at the moment.

"But we'll still be doing laid-back stuff as well. There is still a strong '60s influence there.

The popular group have already been booked to play a gig at Colne Municipal Hall in March, when they will be supported by The Cornerstones and Pigeon Smith.
