A PENDLE teenager this week joined former Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim's band for two gigs in Scotland.
Kieron Melling usually drums with the Nelson-based indie band Pigeon Smith but was handed the dream chance after Bruce Thomas, who sings with Pendle favourites Tidy, passed his name to Aziz.
The famed guitarist, who has also worked with the likes of Simply Red and Ian Brown, is no stranger to East Lancashire. Last Christmas he played a sell-out show in Blackburn's Cellar Bar, then earlier this year to a full house at the Punch Bowl, in Earby.
In the summer he released his debut single Middle Road, which featured a guest appearance from Paul Weller, on No Label records.
Kieron, 18, teamed up with Aziz in Manchester on Monday for three days of rehearsals before the band headed north of the border.
After playing a show in Glasgow city centre on Thursday night, the amazing week was completed with an appearance at the city's King Tuts last night.
Keiron, who hopes to be a session drummer, is in his final year of a BTec course in popular music at Accrington and Rossendale College, were he also plays for a number of college bands.
