EBENEEZER Scrooge broke with tradition when he handed over a cheque for £602 to the Salvation Army!
Scrooge, played by Ashleigh Primary School pupil Michael Ellison from Darwen was one of dozens of youngsters who took part in this year's Christmas production, which also included a nativity play.
Each member of the audience paid £1 to see the show and the money was presented to Major Derek Jones of the Blackburn Corps of the Salvation Army.
Major Jones said: "It was a magnificent effort. They were so enthusiastic, it was a lovely atmosphere and we are really delighted with the donation. It was much appreciated and will be put to good use."
The money will help fund a projects in Blackburn, including food parcels and toys for needy people and a Christmas lunch for 24 local people.
