CLITHEROE boss Dave Burgess has urged his players to put the FA Vase to the backs of their minds when they take on Ramsbottom in the Worthington Challenge Trophy tonight.

Clitheroe won through to the quarter-finals of the Vase with a nail-biting 4-2 extra-time win over Wimborne on Saturday.

Their reward is a home tie against either Rushall Olympic or Thamesmead on February 10.

Blues chairman Steve Rush will be in the West Midlands on Saturday to see the replay between Rushall and Thamesmead but Burgess said he was more interested in his own team.

"I just want to see what formation they play," he said. "It won't affect the way we play but it would be stupid not to have them watched and get a feel for who the danger men are."

Tonight the FA Vase is put to one side as the Blues take on local rivals Ramsbottom at the Riverside -- if the game goes ahead -- and Burgess said this cup was as important as any other.

"We are still in every cup and the longer we stay in them the more chance we have of winning something.

"We will put the FA Vase to the backs of our minds for the next three weeks and although to the fans might think the Vase is the most important, the league is my priority."

Mark Stewart and Carl Greenwood are both doubtful after picking up knocks at Wimborne on Saturday and Burgess himself is suffering from a severe bout of 'flu.

Ramsbottom boss Ben Bridge said tonight's game was 'very doubtful'.

"The snow has melted but the ground is still very hard," he said.

A pitch inspection was set to take place at 2pm today.

Also in action tonight, Accrington Stanley are away at Bamber Bridge in group five of the Unibond League Cup and Chorley travel to Congleton in group seven.

In NWCFL Division One, Rossendale are at Fleetwood. In Division Two, Bacup host local rivals Padiham and Darwen are at home to Atherton LR.
