I APPLAUD Jennifer Preston on her comments (Letters, January 12) because she has the guts to stand up against bigotry.
She laments the way in which society is going. Alas, my own view is that there are quite a number of people who want a platform to espouse their intolerance -- be it homophobic, racial, religious, or anything else.
There is a vast underlying trend within our society that would like nothing better than to have memorials such as a Belsen or Auschwitz as a memory to their intolerance.
