FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a blaze in the kitchen of a house in Clarence Street, Newton-le-Willows, in the early hours of Saturday, January 20. It is believed a pan of food started the fire, which caused heat and smoke damage to the kitchen and its contents.

A 29-year-old man was taken to Warrington Hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and two children were also taken from the house but did not require hospital treatment.
