WHAT a load of hypocrisy from Labour Councillor Ian Ormerod (LET, February 1) to accuse the Tories of creating a traffic hazard for the elderly by opening up Abbey Street in Accrington to two-way traffic.
The Tory action is, of course, contemptible, but let's not forget that Labour was responsible for diverting an endless stream of traffic past the public library, not to mention causing the lethal fast-reversing from the closed-off bottom of St James' Street.
Coun Ormerod should be on to public transport along with the rest of them, then we wouldn't be plagued by these traffic problems.
