REGARDING the comments of Lee Carsley and Christian Dailly (LET, January 18), these are two of football's journeymen, for whom Blackburn paid inflationary prices and, no doubt, inflationary wages.

Lee Carsley has been replaced by David Dunn, one of the emerging best young talents in the country. And Tiny Taylor is emerging as a good prospect. and some of his goals are reminiscent of Colin Hendry -- a testimony to this is the latest chant from the Blackburn End: "Oooo-arh, Tiny Taylor!"

Subjectively, Gordon Strachan may be a better coach that Graeme Souness, but in terms of managing the club and getting the end results Souey's record to date is excellent and Blackburn are now on target for automatic promotion.

Graeme Souness has not been fazed by the big money names and has been quite prepared to give the best players for the job an opportunity. Granted it has taken him time to find his best team.

Mr Souness has worked to reduce the wage bill and move on the 'prima donnas.' An improved morale and team ethos is now evident. In the case of Messrs Carsley and Dailly, it is perhaps a case of sour grapes.
