REIGNING Cup holders Burnley FC GIrls Under 14s A reached the Lancashire Cup Final for the second year running with this sweet victory over the Toffees.

With recent signing ex-Evertonian Karen Boyle c tied, manager Grahame Meeks played Amy Bamber up front alongside Lisa Thompson. The combination soon produced the goods when in the second minute a neat one-two between Bamber and Thompson resulted in Bamber blasting home from close range.

In the 10th minute, and after some concentrated attacking play, Burnley scored again when Katie Chedotal switched play to Hollie Thomson who scored with a crisp 20 yard drive. Three minutes later Thomson made it three and a personal brace when she picked up a loose ball in midfield, carried it forward and let fly with a 25-yard stunner that left the Everton keeper clutching at thin air.

Everton rallied and had a brief flurry near the end of the half, but some good defending especially from Kellie Leyland and Sarah Halsall ensured the Clarets kept a clean sheet.

The half time team talk from manager Grahame Meeks ad coach Phil Butterworth must have been inspiring, because the second half started with Burnley scoring immediately from the kick off. Danielle Cooper making it 4-0 when she received the ball from Thomson and promptly ran half the length of the field beating four players before placing it past the keeper.

Burnley increased their lead in the 56th minute,. when a good pass from player of the match Thompson found the unmarked Stephanie Meeks who made it five with a low drive from 15 yards.

The sixth goal came in the 60th minute, when a superb long ball out of defence from Toni Bell reached Thompson who spun off her marker and rounded the keeper before calmly slotting home. With substitute Kathryn Gorman causing havoc on the right wing, Burnley had more opportunities to hit the back of the net before the Clarets scored their seventh and final goal five minutes from time.

A neat one-two involving Meeks and Cooper resulted in Cooper playing in Thompson who beat her marker to tap home from six yards for a well earned place in the Cup Final.
