A NUMBER of significant buildings in Lancaster and Morecambe will go under the hammer at a major auction to be held at Manchester Airport next month.

The properties which will go to the highest bidder include council-owned buildings in Lancaster plus two of Morecambe's biggest hotels.

The city council has included a number of freehold office investments in St Leonardsgate in the auction which has been organised by Colliers CRE for March 6.

These include number 98 St Leonardsgate, which produces a rent of £12,350 p.a., 108 St Leonardsgate, let to Lancashire County Council at a rent of £9,000 p.a. and 112/114 St Leonardsgate which currently earns £24,200 p.a.

A further property, a retail investment at 66 Market Place, has been sold prior to auction to the tenant.

The auction will also include two significant properties on the sea front in Morecambe.

The Park Hotel in Regent Road is a 32 en-suite bedroom hotel and the Grosvenor Hotel a 50 en-suite bedroom property on Sandylands Promenade which are being offered at auction by the Receiver.

Other local properties in the auction will include Stirling House on Great John Street a former period house now providing 18,000 sq. ft of empty offices, and on behalf of the local NHS a small terraced house in Hibbert Terrace, Scotforth.

Lancaster and District Operatic Society and the Lancaster Yoga studios are current tenants at 98 St Leonardsgate and are said to be keen to remain in in the building.
