'IF music be the food of love, play on.'

Shakespeare's famous words from Twelfth Night rang true for two Preston students this week.

While lovestruck sweethearts woke up to chocolate, flowers and Valentine's cards, one couple celebrated February 14 in a very noteworthy manner.

For student nurse Katie Milling, 19, marked the occasion by recording a CD for 20-year-old boyfriend Dave Noble.

Katie, who sings with the band Kush, was inspired by a song from the romantic comedy film The Wedding Singer. She said: "I have been with my boyfriend for five months -- it was love at first sight -- and we did not have a special song.

"Dave heard 'Growing Old With You' from The Wedding Singer and he said he thought of me when he heard it.

"It's really soppy. I put the video on at the point where the song is about to come on and he said 'can this be our song?'"

So Katie secretly got in touch with Chorley's Kush Music Development Group and they arranged a recording session at KMDG's new studio in Brinscall, near Chorley. In four hours they had recorded Katie's version of the song onto CD.

Katie said: "I don't know how he will react to it. I think he'll be embarrassed and I don't think his friends will be getting to know about it."

Lincoln-born Katie met Dave, from Carlisle, when they worked at the Times Square pub, in Fylde Road, Preston.
