LAST week's letter by Paddy Shannon was well reasoned but what he and others involved in the religious debate ignore is that they are discussing two different categories of belief.

One is of the head - adhered to by socialist - and one is of the heart - followed by sincere adherents of any religious persuasion. Having worked with the Quakers I know at first hand about the improvements in public health and, most importantly, reconciliation after conflict, that can be achieved by a religious body, not an "invisible daddy."
