FOLLOWING some inflammatory (not defamatory!) articles in the local Labour party's weekly news sheet we have witnessed a remarkable series of events. At one fell swoop Labour have saved us all from a fate worse than death... Hilton Dawson and his colleagues have saved the museums and forced Carol Broad to cough up the money she owes -- we owe them a lot.

But the reality is that the museums were never nearly in as much danger as the rumour-mongers would have liked us to believe and Cllr Broad faced more pressure from within her own ranks than elsewhere. Do these people actually believe the rubbish they put out and feel nothing about the well-intentioned people they've agitated or could it be that there's a general election due and Mr Dawson and his crew are prepared to use anything in a desperate bid to save his precarious seat. It's more than just politics, Geraldine Smith doesn't do it so why should he? Surely he should be above cheap, political tricks.
