Gillingham (a) lost 1-0 SEASON SO FAR GRIMSBY had an indifferent start and manager Alan Buckley paid the price. Lennie Lawrence came in and lifted the Mariners off the bottom although they have won just once in their last eight games. LENNIE Lawrence is renowned for winning relegation battles after forging a reputation at Charlton for pulling off miraculous escapes. He has since been in charge at Middlesbrough and Luton before the Mariners. STEVE Livingstone is set to return from suspension to partner Mike Jeffrey in attack and top-scorer Bradley Allen could return to the bench after the best part of two months out.

Dutchman Mennon Willems could also be back in midfield following suspension. STRIKER Bradley Allen is part of the prolific Allen footballing family, and scored 27 goals in 81 League appearances for QPR before joining Charlton and then Grimsby. The 5ft 8" frontman has scored seven times this season for the Mariners. DUTCH midfielder Menno Willems, 23, is on loan from Vitesse Arnhem and is expected to complete a £160,000 move next week. If he returns in midfield, the Clarets should watch out for his explosive left-foot shooting. GRIMSBY'S mid-week reserve team game against Scunthorpe was abandoned 10 minutes from time when young Scunthorpe midfielder Peter Morrison sustained a badly broken leg.
