KEN Wright is sweating on the availability of Simon Kay (hamstring) as the Magpies are already without five players for the Chairman's Cup clash at home to Leek Town from the UniBond Premier

Mark Court is suspended while Greg Challender (back) and Neil Mitchell (foot) look set to join long term injury victims Damion Corcoran and Adam Critchley on the sidelines.

And with Leek currently struggling in 20th position in the Unibond Premier League, the Magpies have a good chance of making the semi finals.

Wright said: "We are hoping Simon does make it because we do have an injury problem at the moment.

"This competition is good for us because we are at the quarter final stage and a win would take us nearer to the chance of winning some silverware.

"You can't win league titles every season so winning a cup competition is something of a consolation so we are looking forward to it."

He added: "It also gives us a chance to pit our skill and wits against a side from a higher division."
