Chesterfield 2 Blackpool 1 Scorers: Chesterfield: Williams, Ebdon Pool: Wellens (57) DAYLIGHT robbery could now be added to Chesterfield's list of alleged footballing misdemeanours after stealing the points from a match dominated for the most part by the Seasiders.

Indeed if the Tangerines had come away with a draw, the result would still not have merited the performance as it could be argued with some justice that Blackpool deserved victory and no less.

Brett Ormerod was missing with a virus with Tommy Jaszczun also suffering. Although he managed to start the game at left back he was clearly struggling and was replaced by Steve Bushell.

Just before the Jaszczun sustitution the Spireites took the lead when Ryan Williams looped a cross /shot over the head of Phil Barnes. Pool then started to make an impact on the game and Paul Simpson came close with a shot from the back post which he would usually have buried it. Chances at the other end were sparse but the home side may have had another had ex-Preston striker David Reeves stayed on his feet more.

The half time team talk seemed to inspire the Seasiders and they took control of the second period from the start. The midfield was magnificent on the break as well sniffing out any Chesterfield danger before they even started.

It seemed only a matter of time before Pool would equalise and shortly after Paul Simpson had hit the bar with a superb free kick the goal finally arrived. It came on 57 minutes after a great move, Simpson sliding a ball through the defence into the run of Richard Wellens. The Pool midfielder took a brief look up and riffled the ball into the top left hand corner of the net. Pool continued to pile on the pressure in search of a winner and were finding holes in the Chesterfield midfield and defence - Collins and Coid both had a field day down the left wing, putting several good crosses on to the head of Murphy.

But all Pool's hard work was to come to nought when Chesterfield brought on a 7'2" tall substitute and two minutes later the ball is in the back of the net.

A rare mistake by Danny Shittu allowed Marcus Ebdon to pull the ball back from the line and cross to Dudfield who stumbled it home.

The goal deflated Pool and no chances came their away side after this crushing piece of bad luck.
