FOUR East Lancashire teachers have contributed to a new book giving the inside story on how to improve primary schools.

Leading Primary School Improvement draws on research carried out by Gwynneth Bennett, senior teacher at Ightenhill County Primary in Burnley, Tricia Braddock, deputy head of Brunshaw County Primary, Burnley, Graham Boyes, head of St Bartholomew's CE Primary, Great Harwood and Keith Parkinson, head of Water County Primary in Rossendale.

The four teachers did the research while studying for MAs in Education Management at Edgehill College of Higher Education in Lancaster.

Two of the senior lecturers at the college, part of Lancaster University, were so impressed by the work they decided to produce a book.

The book -- Leading Primary School Improvement -- is published by Peter Francis Publishers and costs £19.95.
