ONE ward at Leigh Infirmary is still closed to new admissions following an outbreak of a stomach bug.

Health bosses have reopened the three other wards affected by the highly contagious CDT virus which struck at the end of last week.

And the bed crisis resulting from the illnesses, which led to 18 people waiting on trolleys at Wigan Infirmary, has now ended.

A spokeswoman said: "We are currently experiencing only the normal level of pressures associated with this time of year. Staff have coped extremely well over the weekend and we are not experiencing any long delays in accident and emergency."
