AN alcoholic threatened to cut her wrists and spray police with her blood after claiming she "had HIV" a court heard.

Burnley Crown Court was told how Michelle Walker, 32, who also had drug problems, had "spurned" offers of help by the probation service.

Sentencing Walker, who had also threatened to harm herself and had had to be CS gassed, Recorder Anthony Sander said he was prepared to give her an 18 months conditional discharge.

Walker, of Elm Street, Little Harwood, had admitted threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.

David Pickup, prosecuting, said last May, a police officer was called to Accrington after a complaint was made that a fare had not paid for £2.50 a taxi.

The defendant, who was clearly drunk, threatened to cut her wrists and said if the policeman went any closer she would spray him with blood and she "had HIV."

Paul Hague, defending, said Walker had attended the Blackburn community drugs team for alcohol detoxification as she was a long-term alcoholic.
