QUEENS Park Rangers will unleash new signing Andy Thomson on the Clarets tomorrow as they look for the goals to keep them in Division One.

The Hoops made a deadline day swoop for the Gillingham striker and he looks certain to face Burnley at Turf Moor.

With just 35 goals in 37 games this season second-from bottom Rangers need a fresh supply of goals to have any chance of beating the drop.

And after creating a host of chances in losing to Grimsby last week, recently appointed boss Ian Holloway is looking for a better conversion rate at Burnley.

"I have seen an improvement already although we haven't had the results. Hopefully one or two of these new faces can put the ball in the net for us and confidence will come flying back," said Holloway, who snapped up Thomson on a free transfer.

"We've got one point out of my first 12 which is relegation form but we haven't deserved that and when I look at the video of that game it will give me new belief for this week," he added.

Holloway believes Burnley will offer a contrasting challenge to Grimsby but is hopeful of securing only a second away win of the season.

"Burnley are very big and very strong. They play 4-3-3 but we will be looking to exploit that down those areas. I am hoping the full-backs can join in with the wingers and get crosses in like last week and I'm looking forward to finishing them off," said the former Bristol Rovers chief.

Earlier in the week Rangers signed central defender Wayne Brown on loan from Ipswich and then nipped in to sign 29-year-old Thomson, who scored the play-off final goal that clinched Gillingham's promotion last season.

"As soon as I found out that Ian Holloway was interested in me I jumped at the chance," said the Scot. "QPR are a club with a lot of history and are a big name in the game -- although they have endured some difficult times recently.

"It's a big challenge coming here and trying to keep the club in Division One but I'm ready for it. There are enough games left in the season for us to stay up and that's what I will be giving my all to achieve."
