A REWARD is being offered to help detectives get more information about an arson attack on a family home.

Officers from Blackburn CID say Crimestoppers have made the offer to try to get more witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation.

Police are still keeping an open mind about the attack on family of four, Julie and David Lee and their children Robert, 11, Jenny, eight, and Alistair, six, earlier this week.

Mr Lee, a company director, and his family were forced to flee their home at The Pastures, Beardwood, Blackburn, in the early hours of Monday morning.

They were trapped in the house because the fire - believed to have been caused by something pushed through the letter box - was by the front door.

Police officers broke in and rescued the family who were all treated at Blackburn Infirmary for smoke inhalation and discharged the same day.

Det Sgt Paul Murphy said they were investigating several possibilities, including the theory that the wrong house may have been targeted in the blaze.

He appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to call Blackburn CID on 01254 353569 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and said a reward would be offered to anyone who gave police information leading to an arrest and conviction.
