A FAMILY fled from their home after an electrical fault sparked a fire.
Firefighters were called to the house in Tyldesley Old Road, Atherton, on Saturday at 6.30pm.
A spokesman said the fire started inside an electrical meter underneath the stairs.
Crews managed to stop the blaze from spreading after the occupants raised the alarm.
The house suffered slight smoke damage with the area underneath the stairs also being damaged.
