TALENTED teenager Christopher Bottomley is in line for the biggest performance of his life -- but he needs you to help him Monkee around.

The 19-year-old is just a whisker away from being plucked to appear on Stars in Their Eyes when it comes back on our screens in the autumn.

But he could stumble at the last block, so mum Alison Walsh is appealing to Lancashire Evening Telegraph readers to help her son come out a champ, not a chimp.

Christopher is facing his third and final audition for the Granada show next week as Mickey Dolenz from 60s group the Monkees. But Christopher -- who is more into contemporary acts -- knows little of his "alter-ego" and needs to brush up on his moves and mannerisms and is asking for your help.

Alison, of the Cooperage, in Oswaldtwistle, has searched for footage of Mickey performing the song I'm A Believer but has so far drawn a blank and time is running out.

Alison said: "I've tried the library, friends, Virgin Records and the BBC but have had no luck. I asked for footage from when they did Top of the Pops but it is copyright. This next audition is more of a performance and Christopher needs to study his mannerisms, he's got this far and I would love for him to go all the way."

Christopher, who is studying graphic design at Middlesbrough University, first applied for the hit show last summer and went for his first audition hoping to be Darren Hayes from Australian group Savage Garden but was persuaded by producers to sing as Mickey.

After being whittled down from 250,000 hopefuls Christopher is down to the last 13 all battling it out for six places.

Alison said she used to be a fan of the Monkees as a teenager but has never kept any of her old records. Stars in Their Eyes sent him a tape of Mickey Dolenz being interviewed which was quite recent and is no good either.

Alison said: "We need something of him performing. Time is running out for him and we need some footage."
