ATHERTON Town moved to within one point of Premier Division leaders Wythenshawe Amateurs with a game in hand after beating Elton Fold 2-1.
Town's goals on a night of several missed chances came from Daniel Christie and Neil Lewis. Stand Athletic stay on course with two Micky Bartholomew goals securing a 2-0 home win over Mitchell Shackleton. In Division One Leigh Athletic regained the top spot with a 2-0 away win at Ashton Athletic. Hindsford took all three points at Whalley Range with a Dan Toone header from a Darren Briggs corner on 87 minutes earning a 1-0 victory. Breightmet United won 3-2 away at Manchester Royal despite "a worst performance of the season" according to manager Phil Breakell. Phil Hinks and Paul Fletcher had United two goals up after only twenty minutes but with twenty seconds to go the score stood at 2-2. Andy Hicks saved Breightmet,s blushes with a superb winner following brilliant work by Paul Gallagher.
