LOCALS in Prestwich are being urged to join a big community clean-up on Sunday (April 8).
The Friends of Prestwich Forest Park, with assistance from Bury Council and BTCV, want residents to help them clear up rubbish strewn around Eagle's Nest Wood.
Volunteers should meet at the junction of Shrewsbury Road and Lowther Road in Prestwich at 10.30am.
The project is likely to be the first of many similar ventures, with Prestwich Clough next on the agenda.
The Friends want to encourage people to look at issues from access to the landscape, ecology and heritage of the area which is a site of biological importance and ancient woodland. The aim is to produce a development plan, with an open day pencilled in for June.
THE next meeting of the Friends of Prestwich Forest Park is on April 19 in the Church Inn, Church Lane, Prestwich starting at 7pm. For further information contact David Dutton on 253 5269.
