A DARWEN councillor was bemused when the town was mysteriously left off an official party website detailing places with forthcoming elections.
Darwen's Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate, Councillor George Lee, made the discovery when he called up the Labour party's official website. which lists county and unitary authorities holding elections later this year.
Coun Lee was astonished to find no reference to Blackburn with Darwen. Other unitary authorities - such as Bristol, Halton and Isle of Wight - got a mention.
Coun Lee said: "Many people have long thought this area has been forgotten by Labour and its MPs and now we have the proof, with the supposedly efficient London Millbank machine choosing to ignore the district on the party's website.
"Perhaps the local Labour party may like to take the initiative and make sure that Labour in London stop forgetting about Darwen."
A Labour spokesman said the oversight would be corrected immediately, but added: "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Mr Lee should investigate the official Conservative Party website. He will find there isn't one single fact recorded about him. He seems to be the invisible man."
