A SNOOKER hall bar supervisor who was over the limit when stopped in the early hours did not intend to drive again for a very long time, a court heard.
Burnley magistrates heard how Stephen Sturdy, 21, knew he would be banned and his confidence was shattered .
Sturdy, of Accrington Road, Burnley, admitted driving with excess alcohol and was banned from driving for 18 months. He was also ordered to pay a £180 fine and £69 costs.
Teresa Feely, prosecuting, said police stopped Sturdy at 2.45am and the lower of two breath tests showed 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath -- the legal limit is 35.
Nick Dearing, defending, said Sturdy finished work and had three and a half pints between 8pm and 11.15pm. He then stopped drinking and set off for home at 2.30am, expecting to be under the limit. He was not a regular drinker.
His confidence had been so shattered by what he had done, he did not want to drive for a very long time.
