The inquest into the death of a youth found on the railway line near Nelson station has been opened and adjourned.
The hearing, at Burnley Magistrates Court, was told that Dale Stewart Turton, 20, of Hibson Road, Nelson, died of decapitation although a full report from the pathologist was expected.
Dale's father Philip Turton of Bath Street, Nelson, confirmed his son died on Wednesday last week April 4.
He said he last saw him a couple of days before and he had seemed fine, although a bit quiet.
East Lancs Coroner David Smith, who said the family could go ahead with Mr Turton's funeral, said the full inquest would have to be heard by a jury.
