ON Sunday, March 25, I visited Pleasington Cemetery in Blackburn with my family, and what we witnessed was beyond belief because, freely strolling in the cemetery were two adult sheep and four lambs.
And this when farmers are losing everything to the dreaded foot and mouth disease.
I reported them to a man in the office of the crematorium, and he was really concerned, as any responsible person would be when there is a greater chance of the disease spreading even more.
I hope the owner of the sheep realises how we and other witnesses felt when we saw them. It is too frightening to think about it and the consequences it entails.
It made me realise how lepers in Biblical times had to endure being shunned because we all shied away from these poor creatures which might well have been taking their final stroll. May this devastation cease soon.
