BRITISH is best for busy actress and writer Carol Harrison -- and Blackpool is even better!

For the former EastEnders star can't wait to bring her nine-year-old son to the seaside this month while she appears in the riotous comedy Business Affairs at the Grand Theatre.

"I've been to Blackpool before and I love it," said Carol. "But my son never has and, as the show is running over the Easter school holidays, it's perfect for him. It's difficult sometimes being a single working mum and I like to bring him along if I can. "This show is great because it's so very British in its humour and it's wonderful to hear shouts of laughter from the audience. I've never done anything like this before and it's really fun."

Carol, who was Tiffany's mum in EastEnders, has just finished an MA in screenwriting and also appeared in seminal British feature films Quadrophenia and Human Traffic. She now plays Rose Harris -- the timid wife of Northern businessman Norman -- who finds herself playing a hooker to entice two foreigners to buy the company run by her husband and his partner.

Pandemonium ensues as crazy deceptions and outrageous lies are kept up, promising an evening of laughter.

Carol said: "It's typical farce and Rose turns into a right little raver -- it's always the quiet ones! We've been selling out all over the country, so I hope Blackpool audiences love it too.

"Also Blackpool nightlife is fabulous," added Carol. "And of course we must look at Funny Girls."

By "we" she meant herself and Vicki Michelle of 'Allo 'Allo who joins Carol along with Vicki's former co-star Gorden Kaye and Coronation Street's Ken Morley in this latest offering from top comedy writers John Chapman and Jeremy Lloyd who between them are responsible for such great British TV institutions Are You Being Served, The Liver Birds and 'Allo 'Allo.

Busy Carol is now trying to find financial backing for her first feature film called Crazy which is semi-autobiographical and tells the tale of a mother and daughter on the run.

Does Hollywood beckon? "Oh no," laughs Carol who says performing as Blondie babe Debbie Harry for TV's Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes was the most nerve-wracking moment of her career. "I'm very proud to be British and our film industry," she added.
