BLACKBURN ROVERS have defended their decision to charge just £5 for the final two home games of the season.

The move has angered some season ticket holders, who feel they have been unfairly penalised for buying their tickets in advance.

But Rovers' public relations officer Paul Agnew, said: "The decision to introduce the £5 ticket was taken after close consultation with both the Supporters Association and the Fans Forum.

"The two groups, who by definition are dominated by season ticket holders, gave their support to the proposal.

"The reasons behind the initiative are straightforward and balance against a series of savings enjoyed by season ticket holders.

"On average any adult purchasing a season ticket saves around £100 -- the equivalent of six matches -- over the course of the season.

"Anyone buying the £5 ticket against both Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town would save a total of £24 on the normal admission prices.

"The £5 ticket incentive is simply aimed at increasing crowd level and creating an atmosphere at Ewood Park which will help Graeme Souness and the team achieve their goal of promotion to the Premiership."
