A RADICAL overhaul in healthcare provision is being planned across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde -- and now NHS chiefs want your views.
Proposals for the reform of the current Primary Care Groups (PCGs), aim to establish Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) that employ their own staff and own their own property, as well as providing and commissioning services.
The trusts would be run by a board, with a lay member majority, and an elected executive committee made up of health professionals, social services and lay people, with the aim of bringing healthcare users and frontline professionals to the forefront of decision-making.
Proponents claim the three PCTs would minimise costs by sharing human resources and other support services, as well as senior management posts.
Jackie Casilli, chief executive of Wyre PCG said: "This will give us the chance to develop a local focus for services for our population that varies significantly from the inner city issues in Fleetwood, to the market town of Garstang and rural isolation of places like Great Eccleston."
Proposals are on view in libraries and public meetings will be held to determine public opinion, so watch out for upcoming events and have your say.
