DEDICATED Scout Peter Cox wasn't laughing on April Fool's Day when he was taken into Blackpool Victoria Hospital with a broken arm.

But Peter's main concern was that everything should be all white on the night at the upcoming Live Wyre Gang Show at Fleetwood's Marine Hall.

Peter, 13, of 1st Carleton Scouts, had been rehearsing for the gang show for three months when he fell off a scooter and broke his arm.

He told doctors: "When you put my arm in plaster, the plaster has to be white! Red and white are the official colours of all gang shows."

The show promises to be an extravaganza of singing and dancing with a cast of 50 from all over Wyre as well as a large production crew and even music courtesy of the popular Lancashire folk band, the Houghton Weavers.

Assistant District Commissioner Mrs Gartside said: "We wanted to use some of the Houghton Weavers music, so we wrote to them to ask for permission and they agreed."

Mrs Gartside added that local support is needed to continue the tradition of Scouting. "We're always in need of helpers," she said. "And it is a commitment. But we have so much fun, you really do get out as much as you put in."

The 35th Annual Live Wyre Gang Show takes place at Fleetwood Marine Hall between April 19-21 with nightly shows at 7.30pm and a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm. Tickets from Mrs Gartside on 891545 or on the door or at £5 for adults, £4 seniors and children.
