RADCLIFFE could be saluting its very own Thai boxing world champion at the weekend.

Jussy Lowe, who turned professional in November and trains six days a week, is flying over to California to try and take Japanese champion Sachiyo Shibata's world flyweight title off her.

Jussi, who has also worked as a night club bouncer, is one of three Bolton Thai Boxing Club members going Stateside in search of international glory.

North West and England middleweight champion John Hale will fight for the intercontinental middleweight title against American Craig 'The Bullet' Buchanan and British champion Vicky Roberts meets intercontinental featherweight champion Kaori Koizumi from Japan.

As well as fighting the best in the world, Jussy, the double British flyweight and Commonwealth bantamweight champion, will also be entering the unknown as she steps up from two minute to three minute rounds for the first time in her career.

The trio, accompanied by coach Sandy Holt, fly out on Wednesday and fight on Saturday.

Sandy said: "It's a massive, massive show and it's fantastic to have three fighters from Bolton involved.

"The promoter actually contacted me through my website (http..// ukmuaythai.virtualave.net) and we set it up from there.

"This is huge for us. Thai boxing is big time over there in America and they are paying a fortune to get us over there. The flight tickets alone are £400 each and they are putting us up for five days in a four star hotel with all expenses paid.

"They see us as serious challengers and we are definitely going over there as contenders."
