IAGREE with Lord Waddington (LET, March 26) that the people do not want another tier of local government. Even if these regional so-called parliaments were set up, they would be little more than talking shops with no real

power.

What the people of England should be demanding is their own parliament. So they achieve parity with the people of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who already have their own parliaments.

In fact, as an English nationalist, I want England to follow the example of the Southern States of America in 1861 and secede from a union from which it gains not one single political or economic benefit.
