REGARDING the pledge made by Blackburn with Darwen Council chiefs to reduce the number of children killed or seriously injured by three quarters in the next three years (LET, April 5), as a father who lost a son in tragic circumstances six years ago, I find it hard to believe that our councillors are saying only a three-quarters cut.

I wonder how they would feel if their child or grandchild was one of the other nine children which they apparently regard as an acceptable rate of children who are injured and possibly killed over the next three years.

No other parents would expect our council leaders to target anything less than zero level.
