ST Paul's Church in Ramsbottom is moving with the times!
The 100-year-old clock at the church on Bridge Street is now automated, and brave church members can now clock off from their precarious task of climbing the church tower to manually wind up the timepiece.
Parishioners started a campaign last year to bring the clock into the 21st century and were helped by a £700 donation from local businesses, £500 from Bury Council and £3,000 from Pilsworth Environmental Company in Bury.
The cleaning and automation of the clock started in January and was completed this week in time to mark the 150th anniversary of St Paul's.
Councillor Dorothy Gunther, chairman of Ramsbottom and Tottington Area Board, said: "I am delighted that the clock has been modernised. It is important to many people as the main timepiece in the town centre."
