Clarets striker Gareth Taylor believes Burnley are coming good at just the right time in their bid to snatch the final play-off spot.

Stan Ternent's side lost their way in the middle of the campaign to slip towards mid-table.

But six wins in 10 games since Taylor arrived on loan from Manchester City have got the Clarets back within striking distance of the top six.

And the big front man is looking to continue that run against fourth-placed West Brom at Turf Moor tomorrow and then Norwich on Monday.

He said: "The timing is right. It's always important to put a run together towards the end of the season and we're doing that.

"We're full of optimism and what will be, will be. We've had two great results, scoring a few goals and keeping clean sheets and with two big games coming up we're going into them with good confidence."

The Clarets are four points behind Preston in sixth and that's the position Burnley have set their sights on.

"I think Birmingham on 69 points are going to be hard to catch but I think it's one place between three and four teams who are going for it, Forest, Sheffield United, ourselves," added Taylor, who has reached a play-off final three times previously in his career.

"With six games left and four at home it gives us a good opportunity. It will be tough I think but you never know what happens.

"I've been in this situation before and it's surprising, a few wins and all of a sudden you're in there.

"If you lose or draw a game it's out of the window but then all of a sudden you win again and it's back on. It's a funny league this year."
