THE North West Open Karate Tournament was held for the 32rd time and was again hosted by Howe Bridge Sports Centre.
Host club, Sei-Do-Kan, had some outstanding performances with the seniors gaining first, second and third in the individual Male Team Fighting category. The team comprised R.Nuttall, R.Jervis and J.Weir.
The local club also reached the final of the Male Team Kata and had finalists in the Male Senior Kata (J.Weir), Boys Fighting (D.Weir), Senior Female Kata (C.Weir & E.Lees) and Senior Female Fighting (E.Lees).
The students all train under instructor Billy Higgins, pictured centre, at Howe Bridge each Tuesday and Thursday and at the club in Poolstock on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
