A RUNAWAY pony caused hold-ups for motorists on their way to work yesterday as it trotted up the middle of the main route between Atherton and Tyldesley.
Dozens of motorists rang police who attempted to trace the owner of the blanketed chestnut which had escaped from a farmer's field.
