THE BOMB squad was called to the border of Astley and Tyldesley on Monday after a World War Two hand grenade was discovered in a garage.
Residents in Withington Drive were told to stay in their homes after the grenade was discovered during a spring clean-up.
The bomb squad quickly declared the device safe and removed it.
