GENEROUS local residents have donated Wigan and Leigh Hospice their largest single amount to date -- £10,500. Hospice staff received the sum after conducting their biggest mail drop exercise yet. Around 100,000 homeowners across the borough woke up to find details of the work the hospice regularly does on their doormats before donations flooded in. Appeals officer Brian Halliwell thanked everyone who sent money.
